We are very pleased to announce that our lengthy project to raise the funds to install a new energy efficient boiler has been achieved.

In Nov 2019 Charleson Building Services Limited were enaged to install two high-efficiency HOVAL Top Gas 120 Boilers in a cascade arrangement. The reason was the existing boiler was a 229KW Ideal and was installed early 1990’s prior to our acquisition of Toxteth Town Hall in 1997.

In the last 2 years it was operating at 65% efficiency and so affecting the comfort for all who worked, volunteered and accessed the services at our centre. Equally, it was was regularly breaking down and parts were becoming obsolete.

The new boiler and associated works at a total cost of £35,935 incl VAT, was made possible by the following funders/supporters to who we are truly thankful:

  • a grant from Veolia Environmental Trust of £32,341 (with WRS Insurance Brokers and Ecclesiastical Insurance being the 10% Third Party Contributors totalling £3,234) and;

  • ComMutual/Torus CIF programme with a grant of £2,500.

  • The balance of just over £1,000 was from our own unrestricted income.

We, as well as all of the organisations, groups, staff, volunteers and the local community who access the wide range of services, activities, courses, clubs running from our centre, are extremely grateful for this improvement to the operational environment. See pictures below of before, during and after. The new boilers are now affectionately known as '“The Twins”!!. They were fully commissioned on Friday 13th Dec 2019 and are operating brilliantly providing a pleasant, warm and comfortable surroundings for all.
