On the 7th July 2023 we welcomed the Lord-Lieutenant of Merseyside Mark Blundell along with the Trustees of the Duchy of Lancaster Benevolent Fund.
They came to visit us and also meet some other charities they had supported with a grant including The Whitechapel Centre who are based in our centre.
It was a lovely event. Everyone had a delicious lunch in our community Garden where they met some of our Garden and Food Growing club members who showed them what fruit, vegetables, herbs they were growing. The Lord-Lieutenant also picked some blackberries from the currant bush that he had planted over a year ago for the late Queens Platinum Jubliee. He also showed everyone the Pear tree that he planted recently, for the Kings Coronation.
Our club members and trustees are holding their Conronation Garden Party on 12th May 2023. His Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Merseyside Mark FW Blundell will be in attendance and be planting a pear tree to mark the occasion.

ONE DAY LOOK AHEAD TRAINING COURSE.
We are working with the Torus Foundation with their The Look aHEAD project on parental mental health and wellbeing and resilience of families and children in Liverpool.
Working with Interface Enterprises, they are delivering a 1 day training session with us here in Toxteth Town Hall on Tuesday 27th September 2022 from 9.30am until 1.30pm and includes lunch and refreshments. This 1 day training session is for parents and grandparents in family resilience.
This course helps parents and grandparents to recognise common mental health issues and understand how to provide non-judgemental support, reassurance and guidance towards professional help. They will learn about different mental illnesses, their symptoms, causes, treatment options, first aid methods, and self-help strategies. Specifically, attendees will learn about:
· Common mental health concerns and key factors that can affect children and teenagers.
· Identify how to best support children and teenagers by developing skills and knowledge to recognise triggers and signs of mental health issues.
· The action principals of ‘look, listen, link’, how to utilise active listening skills and how to provide an empathic response.
· About stigma and discrimination related to mental health
Participants will also be given information about service provision (youth referral pathway) available locally that can be accessed to support wellbeing and mental health.
Its all free and open to parents and/or grandparents and or guardians. Contact staff at reception to register for the training. 0151 727 2648 or email info@toxtethtownhall.org.uk

ITS HARD TO BELIEVE IT WAS 25 YEARS AGO ON 27TH MAY 1997 THAT WE ACQUIRED TOXTETH TOWN HALL. SO WE DECIDED TO MAKE IT A DOUBLE CELEBRATION TO MARK OUR OWN SILVER ANNIVERSARY AND THE QUEEN’S PLATINUM JUBILEE.
OUR FAMILY GAMES CLUB MEMBERS SUGGESTED PLANTING CURRANT BUSHES TO MARK THE OCCASION. IN ADDITION TO OUR FAMILY GAMES CLUB MEMBERS, SOME OF OUR TRUSTEES AND OUR ADULT GARDENING CLUB MEMBERS WERE ALSO IN ATTENDANCE. THE 3 CURRANT BUSHES - RED, WHITE AND BL…ACK CURRANT - WHERE PLANTED BY THE LORD-LIEUTENANT OF MERSEYSIDE, BY OMAR FROM OUR ADULT GARDENING CLUB AND BROTHER’S OLLIE AND JOSEPH FROM OUR FAMILY GAMES CLUB.
OUR ACTIVITY CO-ORDINATOR HYATT’S SISTER BAKED A DUAL CELEBRATION CAKE. SHELLEY, TESCOS COMMUNITY CHAMPION JOINED US TOO AND DONATED A LOVELY ASSORTMENT OF FOOD. A BIG THANKS TO EVERYONE FOR MAKING THE EVENT SO WONDERFUL. THE HOMEMADE PINK LEMONADE AND STRAWBERRY CHEESECAKE MADE BY ONE OF OUR ADULT GARDENING CLUB MEMBERS WAS DELICIOUS :)
